Ground Anchors

Ground Anchors

It is called anchoring to increase the resistance ability of the steel formation placed on the ground by transmitting the tension caused by the prestressing to the ground. Strong rods (toron) or multiple strands (tendon) are fixed to the holes in the ground with cement. The other ends are connected to the walls by means of plates. In deep excavations, the resistance of the ground behind the curtain concrete is increased and its safety is increased with ground anchors.

How is Ground Anchor Made?

Prestressed anchors (temporary anchors) and permanent anchors are applied to ensure the safety of the deep excavation area without damaging the surrounding structures. Temporary anchorage is applied in order to prevent situations such as flooding until the pit opened in the construction area is closed.

The permanent anchor is used to support the exposed deep excavations. It is a method that should be approached meticulously in terms of technical rules. Otherwise, it can cause big problems in the future.

The application steps of the prestressed anchor are as follows.
  • Drilling is done at 10-30 degree angles according to the dimensions in the project.
  • Steel strands are prepared in 3 or 6 forms as free length and root length.
  • In case of water in the wells, water and mud are purified by the guide system.
  • strands are kept in the cleaned well,
  • The wells drilled are injected with quality cements.
  • The head, anchor plate, grip elements are assembled and stretched.
  • At the loads specified in the project, tensioners are made with a tensioning machine and the process is completed.
